“The epitome of refined, sustainable living. From cutting-edge advancements to artful craftmanship, every aspect of this show apartment embraces eco-conscious practices while keeping luxury at the forefront.”

The climate crisis is high on all of our priority lists, and Suna are committed to an ongoing an in-depth analysis into our supply chain and our own in-house practices to ensure that we are taking decisive steps towards sustainability. We are making continuous improvements to the sustainability outcomes of our designs by considering the environmental, social and economic impact of our operations and processes. You can read more about this here. We have adapted our in-house operations and design practices to feed sustainability through all departments within the company and through all stages of the project cycle so that sustainability is embedded in our culture, operations and threaded throughout our designs so we are able to respond on both an individual and collective basis.

Let’s take you on the journey we took to weave sustainable luxury thRough our show home for london square in their flag ship nine elms development.

 HALLWAY

We’ve specified COAT paints throughout the show apartment. COAT has led the charge in creating eco-friendly paint in a range of colours to suit any interior style. Their paint is solvent-free, they use recycled packaging and have recently been certified as a B-Corp corporation.

Console table made from mango wood which is a sustainable wood. When trees no longer bear fruit, only then is the lumber harvested. The reeded design on the drawers is reminiscient of the profile we specified for the kitchen cabinets and wardrobe doors throughout the development.

The artwork in the hallway has been made by British artists, and we have recycled wallpaper from previous projects for the mounts, resulting in one-off artwork for this scheme.

LIVING AREA

A unique composite material, Solidwool is made in the UK using British Wool and bio-resin. They have turned the way we have always worked with wool on its head and the end result is Solidwool. A strong, beautiful and unique composite material. Think fibreglass, but with wool.

Our bespoke furniture team use Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified wood and any waste is recycled using their biomass system which is a low-carbon renewable energy, generated using plant-based fuels that is used to heat their workshop. They also use solar energy to power their workshop.

We’ve used Linwood for the sofa and curtain fabrics, an incredible recycled velvet made with 60% recycled polyester, and their Verde collection is constructed from 80% recycled cotton.

We’ve gone to British design powerhouses, Christopher Farr and William Yeoward to create these cushions. All fabrics are printed and manufactured within the United Kingdom.

The rug is sourced from Nordic Knots, who are partnered with GoodWeave, a charity that rallies against child labour in the rug industry.

Each Fred Rigby Loop Chair is finished, assembled and stamped in their London workshop. With a commitment to sustainable practice they use recycled packaging and plant a tree for every piece sold. All furnishings are made from sustainably sourced and forested European wood including FSC-certified solid Oak and Ash.

DINING AREA

The dining table is made by Galvin Brothers, who formed in November 2012 as a new handcrafted furniture business, building upon their father’s 60 plus years of joinery and cabinet making experience. All of the timber used is from sustainable sources with certification from Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) or Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC). Sustainability is engrained in everything they do — making furniture that is designed to maintain its value and integrity for future generations is what underpins this.

BEDROOM

Each roll sold of this House of Hackney wallpaper enables them to purchase and protect 35 square metres of forest thanks to their partnership with the World Land Trust, the international conservation charity that safeguards our most vital natural ecosystems and threatened habitats, acre by acre.

Sustainable fabrics including Linwood’s Omega, 60% recycled polyester and Kirkby Design’s Fleck, made from 100% recycled PET. The recycled wool and acrylic yarns are reconstituted from the fashion industry, whilst TENCEL™ Lyocell is a sustainable yarn that originates from fast growing eucalyptus trees. The 100% PET recycled polyester yarns are produced from waste plastic bottles. Kirkby has also partnered with Trees for Life, protecting and caring for trees in the Scottish Highlands.

The Bobbin Console Table from Galvin Brothers is handcrafted in English oak, which is then naturally ebonised for a more contemporary look. All their handmade wooden furniture is made to order using sustainably sourced wood.

TERRACE

The terrace chairs, from Petite Friture, are made from eco materials and fully recyclable metal. The side table from Ecobirdy is made from ecothylene. Due to accurate sorting and using state-of-the-art technology, they are able to transform post-consumer plastic waste into high-grade raw material. Because of the special production process, each product is unique. The Way outdoor cushions from Ferm Living are made from recycled plastic bottles. The planters are from Circular & Co, each pot contains up to 80% recycled plastics and 20% recycled natural stone. Each flower pot has a lifespan of over 10 years and is completely recyclable.

STYLING

When looking to dress the apartment, we turned to eco-friendly and sustainable suppliers. Veo is a market place for sustainable suppliers, housing hundreds of unique independent stores with the environment at the forefront. As a sustainable supplier, they have B Corp accreditation.

For clothing in the wardrobe, we went to Sign of The Times - a pre-loved clothing store specialising in high-end and designer fashion.

Handmade ceramics founded by fashion designer Henry Holland. Made in Hackney.

B-corp certified homeware sourced from Nkuku. Including recycled glass candle sticks and cotton canvas artwork.

Second hand books sourced from World of Books - a chance to save books from landfill and give them a second life.

B-Corp certified company, Ethical Bedding only use raw materials with the highest eco-friendly credentials. Renewable eucalyptus is their signature, but they also utilise bamboo and locally sourced plastic bottles. Absolutely everything is certified to the highest standard and of course non-toxic.
