Twenty Questions : Alysha Davies

5.5.20

A quickfire 20 question session for one of our longest serving members of staff, Interior Designer, Alysha Davies, on all the important things in life!

QUESTION ONE : Give us a quick run down of a typical day in the Suna studio for you?

Wait for the kitchen to empty and then I make a cup of coffee. I then check my emails, and then crack on with my to do list! This can vary from scheming, collating fabrics, shopping, artwork and general admin.

QUESTION TWO : Tell us about your favourite Suna project?

I love the CGI’s of The Hub, a student accommodation designed for Beyond the Box. It’s so colourful and joyful, the design just makes me really happy.

QUESTION THREE : If you weren’t in your current role what other career could you have seen your self doing?

I used to want to work in publishing before I fell into interior design. One day I will win the lottery and buy a bookshop and no one will be allowed to buy any books from it because they’re my books. Very much inspired by Dylan Moran’s character in Black Books.

QUESTION FOUR : What does an ‘ideal weekend’ look like for you?

An ideal weekend normally would mean I don’t leave the house and spend the two days consuming all of the media. ALL OF IT. I think at the end of this situation I would probably enjoy stepping outside and loving London again. Maybe go on a riverboat. Who knows.

QUESTION five : Where in the world would like to travel to?

I would love to go to San Francisco one day. I just feel like it’s my vibe.

QUESTION SIX : If money was no object what item of furniture or interior object would you love to own?

I’ve always wanted a bust of myself made in marble. Then I can point to it when people come round and say – that’s me.

QUESTION SEVEN : What’s your favourite possession and why?

I have a little heart painting a friend did for me and it sits on my desk and looks at me everyday and I love it.

QUESTION EIGHT : describe yourself in three words.

Passionate, dramatic, persevering.

QUESTION NINE : Show us a picture of your dream home?

Give me an overgrown country cottage but also the gardeners to upkeep it.

QUESTION ELEVEN : If you could only live in one room in a house, which would that be?

This room with a secret door to the kitchen. Endless snacks and books, dreamy!

QUESTION FOURTEEN : Who do you look up to and what qualities do you admire about that person?

Day to day it’s probably my partner, mainly because he’s taller than me but he’s also a great person – kind and funny. Otherwise Michelle Obama.

QUESTION FIFTEEN : What is your biggest fear?

Being forgotten. It’s the Leo in me.

QUESTION SIXTEEN : Favourite book?

The Harry Potter series was a formative part of my childhood so they are probably up there, however the book I keep re-reading is Great Expectations by Charles Dickens. I love a wordy classic and you can’t get wordier than Dickens.

Nellie Bly – a female journalist who self admitted to an asylum in America to get the dirty on their treatments. She also went around the world in 72 days – beat that Phileas Fogg.

That guy who lost an episode of come dine with me and said “Enjoy the money I hope it makes you happy. Dear lord, what a sad little life, Jane. You ruined my night completely so you could have the money and I hope now you can spend it on lessons in grace and decorum. Because you have all the grace of a reversing dump truck without any tyres on.”

Michelle Obama

QUESTION NINETEEN : Do you have any weird phobias?

Milk that is coming close to it’s going off date and it has that tangy smell. I don’t like it.

AND FINALLY, QUESTION TWENTY : What advice would you give the YOUNGER you?

Be yourself. Also don’t take Geography A level, you don’t even like geography you just fancied the teacher.
