Celebrate NATIONAL Decorating Month with OUR creative ways to decorate your home.

To celebrate one of our favorite months of the year - ‘World Decorating Month’ - we’ve brought you 4 creative ways to decorate your home.
Whether it’s an impactful and innovative paint feature or a larger than life wallpaper we don't shy away from using decoration as a tool to help us create memorable spaces.
Find out how to add colour, depth, texture, pattern and something a little out of the ordinary to your home with the use of paint and wallpaper.

ZONING

Carving through a room with a paint color or a wallpaper feature is a fantastic way to create illusions within a space.
Whether your intention is to make a room feel bigger, help divide an open plan space or to highlight a particular dedicated function within a room, here are some interesting ways to using zoning to your advantage.

HALF HEIGHT PAINT

Painting the lower or upper part of your walls, or even a strip through the middle, with a feature paint colour is a memorable and cost effective way to bring balance and intrigue into your home with minimal effort.

PAINT RECESSED AREAS

Use paint in recessed areas, or on window and door reveals to define or zone an area. Go for super bright colours around a window for a pop of colour or paint recesses either side of a fireplace to add colour and interest.

across walls and ceilings

Think beyond the four walls of your room and take paint up and onto the ceiling, or even the floor. This is a great solution for open plan spaces and studio apartments, helping create dedicated places for activities such as work or relaxation.

ZONE ROOM FUNCTIONS

Define functions within an open-plan spaces, to separate and divide the room. Bringing in moodier, darker colours allows different atmospheres to be created within one space.

FEATURE WALLS

You can approach decorating from a ‘whole room’ approach, adopt the zoning ideas we mention above or apply distinct feature wall ideas in selected rooms.

WALLPAPER PANELS

There are some really beautiful and impactful wallpapers out there, why not apply beading around a wallpapered section or similarly within beading to create the effect of a window or even an oversized headboard. A cost effective way to bring an expensive wallpaper into your room!

SPECIALISED PAINT

Chalkboard paints come in a range of colours and can even be magnetic - both a practical and beautiful way to display memos, to do’s lists and an ever evolving home gallery of your own. Paint is getting ever more sophisticated with products infused with metals that can be oxidised, creating organic patinas unique to your space.

COLOUR BLOCKING

If painting a whole wall in a bold colour feels like a step too far then colour blocking is a great way to add colour in smaller doses, and can be used to highlight a treasured piece of furniture or artwork effectively.

PAINTABLE WALLPAPER

Paintable wallpaper is a great way to bring a desired texture, like tongue and groove panelling, to your walls and with a never ending range of paint colours to choose from you can match this to your scheme

BESPOKE MURALS AND DESIGNS

For the ultimate personalised look, why not try painting your own mural? Or head online to find one of the multitudes of suppliers that now work with large scale images to create bespoke wall murals. The benefits of a mural is that you don’t get the pattern repeat that you would on standard wallpapers, so the design is made to fit your wall and feels personalised to your space.

PROJECT IT

Using a projector is a perfect solution for more complex designs or for those less confident with painting, and is also a great way to visualise your mural before finalising your selected colours and preferred size.

GET CREATIVE!

Get creative with shapes and colour! It’s so easy to make a statement with paint alone, by designing feature walls made up with curves and stripes. Choose some bold colours and get the masking tape out!

NEED SOME HELP?

Simple and stripey….Painting tape and block prints are clever ways to help your design look professional, even if you’re not a talented artist!

CUSTOM MURALS

Many wallpaper suppliers allow you to make artwork and images into wallpaper or adjust the colours in wallpaper design they stock. So just about anything can go on your wall and you can be sure to tie it into the colour scheme.

ALTERNATIVE SURFACES

You can buy paints that can go on any kind of surface, from chalk paints for furniture to metal paints suitable for your radiator. Maybe you’re strapped for time and all your space really needs is a touch of paint on an unusual surface to give it a new lease of life.

SURPRISE!

We love using colour in unexpected ways, pop a bright colour inside a wardrobe or kitchen cupboard for a nice surprise when you open the door.

architectural details

Doors, skirting, architraves, Dado rails, and paneling aren't exceptions when it comes to creative decoration ideas! Beyond that you can also get innovative with painting shelves and furniture - the possibilities are endless.

furniture fun

The fun doesn’t need to stop once you’ve finished with your walls! Get creative by painting your furniture, whether you have some pieces in need of a new lick of paint, fancy adding a pop of colour onto a much loved vintage find, or use a stencil to add some fresh stripes, spots and motifs

UPCYCLING

Sustainability is the word, so rejuvenating tired furniture to bring it back to life not only brightens up your home but helps ensure that furniture has a new lease of life too.
