OUR VIP WORKSHOP WITH PEABODY AT SOUTHMERE
We like nothing more than sharing our knowledge so we jumped at the chance to collaborate with AWARD WINNING, LONDON DEVELOPER, Peabody who were hosting an Interior Design Masterclass for residents and potential purchasers at Crane Court, on their Southmere development.
TWO OF OUR INTERIOR DESIGNERS, Letty WALTON AND Katrine Oben, Fill us in on how the day went.
”After weeks of planning and preparation the day of the event was finally upon us, and the Suna team waited in excitement for the first participants to filter through the doors.
Located in ‘The Nest’ with its floor to ceiling windows overlooking Southmere Lake, and the sun breaking through the clouds, it was the perfect setting for this much anticipated event.”
“The schedule for the day had been set, starting off with a presentation by Suna, showcasing many of our beautiful designs created for Peabody.
Followed by a 2D floorplan layout exercise where the participants had the chance to layout furniture on printed floorplans that reflected those available to buy in Peabody’s new Southmere development.
The final task involved us visiting one of the empty apartments where participants were able to materialise what they’d learnt from the previous exercise with a 3D floorplan exercise.”
“In our presentation we gave exclusive insight into how we develop the concepts for our designs.
We detailed the inspiration behind our colour palette, fabric selections and overall look and feel for the 2 Bedroom Show Home we designed for Peabody’s Southmere development.
We also advised how to approach laying out a floorplan, showing numerous alternative options for the same 2 Bedroom Apartment, considering the different desired functions one might have for their home.
“We offered our ‘top tips’ when it comes to designing a home, with lots of affordable and sustainable recommendations to ignite the inspiration.
Then finished with some before and after photos showcasing the steps taken to achieve the 2 Bedroom Show Home scheme, explaining the thought process behind our design decisions.”
“Delighted with the engagement in the 2D floorplan layout exercise, participants took the opportunity to ask questions related to the apartment they were interested in.
As expected, everyone approached the exercise in their own way, addressing their chosen apartment with their own set of preferences and requirements in mind.
It was so interesting finding out what inspired each person and seeing the thought they gave to the space they would soon be living in.
And so rewarding offering up advice when someone was stuck or unsure of how best to layout a room or pair a mix of design styles.”
“By the time we moved on to the 3D floorplan exercise the participants were armed with so much knowledge and ready to tackle the task. It was lovely seeing everyone work together imagining where best to put the tv or the sofa, considering all the points we’d covered throughout the day.
“We can’t wait for the participants to get stuck into making their designs a reality, oh to be a fly on the wall of these future homes!”
