First Time Buyer Awards Hat Trick.

5.2.19

Not one.

Not Two.

But THREE nominations for the Best Show Home at this years First Time Buyer Awards.

Over the moon doesn’t quite cover it!

We have quite a collection of awards and accolades to our name. It is always wonderful to see our projects on a shortlist, but this shortlist in particular cheered us up no end. Because it’s not often we find three of the six of the projects listed in a category are ones that we have designed and installed for our clients. Three. THREE! Out of Six. So, half the nominations are our work!

The First Time Buyer Awards have gone from strength to strength and the event itself is steadily gaining speed, moving to the Marriott Hotel Grosvenor Square on Park Lane, London, this year to accomodate the rapidly growing numbers. In the industry, first time buyers are fast becoming the linchpin supporting the wider housing market, so the importance of this market sector is not to be underestimated.

And designing for first time buyers is a skill in and of itself. Striking the balance between aspirational, inspiring interior design and affordable and achievable solutions for purchasers moving into their first home is crucial. Hit the mark too high and the potential buyers will struggle to relate to the show home, too low and you risk patronising and undermining this new breed of proud, young professionals.

The criteria for selection in the Best Show Home category, sponsored by Faust PR, requires the show home to “allow the buyer to see the property to its maximum potential, giving them a realistic insight into their new home.” As a major part of our design process, we pride ourselves on pinpointing and designing very specifically for the target market for each and every show home we work on, whether it be a Canary Wharf penthouse or a Shared Ownership one bedroom apartment, so this requirement for demonstrating a convincing and representative scheme that would appeal to this market is a challenge that is right up our street.

So have a browse below at our three very different show homes for three different clients. We hope you agree that all three nominations meet the mark, we now just have to hope that one of them wins the award!

Southern Housing Group - Dalmeny Avenue

A gorgeous combination of rich greens and blues with blush and baby pinks. Bringing on-trend details like fringing to a design that is replete with rich colour and texture, all on a first time buyers budget. Being bold is a sure fire way to bring life and character to a space, irrespective of budget. A design that showcases the lifestyle of a young purchasers, working from home at the versatile dining room table, entertaining friends at the same table later in the day. A few key purchases really bringing personality and character to the show home. We love the fringed mirrors from Oliver Bonas and the Trouva Pink Floyd table lamps in the second bedroom. PEABODY - WEST VIEW BATTERSEA

A rich and elegant palette, set off against a back drop of warm neutrals and greys. Definitely the kind of pad the first time buyer will want to show off to their friends! A beautiful and practical banquette seat solution for the dining table brings a bit of bar-chic to the design, reinforced with the luxurious textures of velvet and silk. Two bedrooms cleverly mirror image each other, taking one colour palette and reversing it for each room. One light with a rich, dark bed taking centre stage. The other moodier and darker, with a feature upholstered bed illuminated by a pair of gorgeous floor lamps with bright pink shades.

ORBIT - VICTORIA QUARTER

Bright. Bold. Beautiful. This one is a generous, spacious five bedroom home, located near Ashford in Kent. A different premise for a first time buyer opportunity, a family home for the local purchaser. So we dresssed it with colour, treating each bedroom to a unique palette, beautiful fabrics and hand picked accessories. Dressing kids bedrooms in a way that the children of the family will themselves aspire to. Bringing a little bit of life and soul to a show home to demonstrate how a family could take the key, move in and make themselves right at home.
