Surrounded by five lakes, green parks and only a short walk from the new Elizabeth line, this two-bedroom show home for Peabody at Southmere is part of an impressive new development and regeneration of Abbey Wood in Southeast London.
The palette is inspired by the landscaping surrounding the development, with an emphasis on bringing nature in through greenery, neutral colours and natural textures. This was paired with a warm injection of rust orange and sophisticated navy blue, feature colours which bring depth and contrast to the scheme. Organic shapes were brought through with elements like the stone shaped mirrors, sculptural ornaments and abstract artwork which were set against matt black furniture, which references the more contemporary aspects of city living.
A subtle yet eye-catching feature of this design are the inverted wall panels in the living room, which create a look that reinvents traditional paneling and fits perfectly in this design-conscious development. Wrapping round two walls, this detail is a contemporary take on a historical design trend which has seen a real comeback in the last few years.
It was important to make the most of the generously proportioned bedrooms, so we designed memorable headboards for each bedroom. The principal bedroom showcases an extra wide fluted headboard with a suitably oversized bespoke painting hung above it, to complete the look. In the second bedroom we created a linen and leather effect bolster headboard which sits against a striking black and white wallpaper. While the work from home function is zoned using an alternative textured wallpaper, to emphasise the potential available in this spacious room.
