This was an exciting project, designing Show Home and Communal areas in a stunning, Georgian-inspired new-build, located in the gorgeous village of Totteridge, North London.
The Conifers, was developed by our client, to provide 5 high-end apartments to rent, reflecting the classic Georgian style architecture both internally and externally. Built to a superb standard, we were keen to accentuate the classical features of the apartment, from its gorgeous paneled doors, 3m high coffered ceilings and herringbone floors. Located in the rural village of Totteridge, our target market leaned towards downsizers, who were looking to move further out of the capital to a manageable, yet still impressive property.
Our main inspiration drew from the rural setting of Totteridge, and its ancient meadows that surround the village. We wanted to create a home that felt tranquil and serene, yet still exuded luxury and opulence that would suit our established target market. We opted for a natural colour palette to reflect our location, of soft biscuity whites, warming taupes and pops of muted pistachio. Brass metallic finishes accent the lighting, with the addition of a sophisticated black that runs throughout the scheme. This comes in subtle finishes of some of the furniture to add depth, and give a contemporary feel to a classic design.
A key feature in this Show Home is the majestic, papered ceiling over the dining table. Upon our first site visit, we knew the recessed ceiling in this area called for something bold, with the dining being positioned as a direct focal point in the property. After much searching, we fell upon a beautiful botanical wallpaper that had the perfect balance between contemporary and traditional. It features gold foil leaves against a charcoal backdrop, with movement created in its mesmerizing pattern of flowing vines. The gold foil finish glows in the reflection of the recessed lighting, creating a truly magical focal point to this space.
Another key feature is the wall mural in our Master Bedroom. We wanted to create a boutique feel to this room which would be a real selling point for this property. We opted for a painted landscape, of palm trees and mountains in an almost vintage-feeling colour grade. Again, this added a feeling of serenity to the space, with the soft green hues and pops of emerald that then spilled out onto the bed dressing. The mural was then framed with a classic style molding, and painted with a deep emerald green, creating a dramatic backdrop to our master bedroom.
